Register for a Metal Detecting Membership

Find hidden treasures buried beneath the ground of Oro Valley! Prior to using your metal detector at an Oro Valley Park, you must obtain a membership. The Metal Detecting Membership is good for one year (must register again each year) and is free. The membership is required to ensure all metal detectors have agreed to the rules and regulations, along with the Hold Harmless Agreement. Please see below for step-by-step instructions to obtain the membership.

Requirements

1. Upon completion of personal usage of metal detector, there shall be no remaining visible sign of soil disturbance or visible sign of damage to park vegetation, turf, and/or permanent fixtures.

2. Please report any site damage to the Parks and Recreation Office, so the appropriate repairs can be promptly reported to the Parks Maintenance personnel. Please call 520-229-5050 during normal business hours. (Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.).

3. The park user may be assessed repair/clean up charges if any significant damage or litter occurs to the park as a direct result of the use of the metal detector in a reckless manner where reasonable care was not taken to avoid intentionally damaging said facilites.

4. Use of metal detectors must be for personal recreational use only. No business or “for profit” enterprises allowed.

5. Membership is based on a rolling calendar – ex. If you sign up on May 10th, 2020, your membership is effective: 5/10/2020 – 5/10/2021.

Step 1.Visit The Metal Detecting Registration Page

Step 2.Log into your CivicRec account

Scroll down to the bottom of the registration page and select the green "log in" button located on the bottom right. If you don't have an account, select the blue "Create Account" button

Step 3.Once logged in, select "Add to Cart" and complete transaction

You will be required to agree to Hold Harmless Agreement and Metal Detecting Rules and Regulations

NOTE: To complete the transaction you will be taken through the payment process but you will notice that the cost is $0.00 as this is a free membership

Step 4.Print or Save Receipt

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will not be printing membership cards for the foreseeable future. For now, please save or print your receipt. 

Once you have completed the transaction, a receipt will appear on the screen. This will be your membership confirmation and should be saved or printed and carried with you when you are using your metal detector at an Oro Valley park

Step 5.Mark your Calendar to Renew Membership in one year

Metal Detecting memberships expire one year after registration. It's the member's responsibility to renew their membership each year and ensure they have a current receipt when using their metal detector
