The Engineering Division is responsible for:

  • Managing and facilitating the design and construction of public roadway projects
  • Issuing right-of-way permits for all activities within the Town's right-of-way
  • Developing annual and long-term schedules for maintenance of pavement on public streets
  • Inspecting, inventorying and monitoring pavement on public streets
  • Maintaining and operating traffic signals and signalized intersections within Town limits
  • Maintaining and installing signs and pavement markings on public roads
  • Gathering and compiling data for internal traffic studies
  • Coordinating with other regional jurisdictions to construct and maintain shared public roadways
  • Representing the Town on the PAG Transportation Systems Subcommittee and the PAG Pavement Management Team
  • Representing the Town in the RTA Safety Working Group

Current Engineering Projects Details

Steet Maintenance
This division is responsible providing minor preventative and reconstructive repairs within town roadways. These include contract and in-house surface treatments and pavement rehabilitation.  Respond to service requests of staff and constituents. Contract for special projects for the repair and preventative maintenance of public roads and drainage-ways. Respond to emergency traffic conditions during storms or other emergency events.

Drainage Maintenance
Minor repairs to drainage ways and structures within and under roadway prism such as erosion damage, blockage and structure integrity.

Transportation services works with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) to ensure local transportation services work with the main City of Tucson Sun Tran transportation system to support and enhance community mobility.
