Recognizing the Oro Valley Pups Baseball Team

WHEREAS, the Town of Oro Valley takes great pride in recognizing young athletes whose dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to excellence bring distinction to our community; and 

WHEREAS, the Oro Valley-based Pups baseball team, consisting of 12 talented young players, traveled to Cooperstown, New York, to compete in a prestigious youth baseball tournament held July 24-30, 2026, featuring 104 teams from across the United States and its territories; and 

WHEREAS, competing against outstanding teams from throughou_t the country, the Pups demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork, compiling an impressive record of six wins and two losses and finishing among the top 16 of 104 competing teams; and 

WHEREAS, this remarkable accomplishment reflects countless hours of practice, preparation, perseverance, and the leadership of dedicated coaches who have helped these young athletes develop not only their baseball skills but also their confidence, character, and sportsmanship; and 

WHEREAS, the parents and families of these players deserve special recognition for their encouragement, sacrifices, and unwavering support, making possible an experience these young athletes will remember for years to come; and 

WHEREAS, the Pups have represented Oro Valley with pride and demonstrated that success is measured not only by wins and losses but also by teamwork, friendship, determination, and respect for others. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that I, Joseph C. Winfield, Mayor of the Town of Oro Valley, Arizona, on behalf of the Town Council and our community, proudly recognize and congratulate the Oro Valley Pups Baseball Team, their coaches, and their parents for their outstanding performance at the 2026 Cooperstown baseball tournament. 

We celebrate these young athletes for their exceptional achievement and extend our sincere appreciation to the coaches and families whose dedication and support helped make this accomplishment possible.
