WHEREAS, The National Association of Veterans Upward Bound (NAVUB) is the professional association for Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) staff personnel. Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) projects, supported by NAVUB, are dedicated to fully developing the personal potential of all U.S. military veterans, just as NAVUB is dedicated to fully developing professional staff members who work with VUB's veterans; and

WHEREAS, Veterans Upward Bound projects are funded by the U. S. Department of Education and serve eligible veterans across the nation designed to help eligible U.S. military veterans enter and succeed in post-secondary education; and

WHEREAS, sixty Veterans Upward Bound projects are currently funded across the U.S., and Puerto Rico, including one in the City of Tucson; and

WHEREAS, the Westward Look Resort was chosen to host the 44th NAVUB Conference, an annual conference with emphasis on the professional development of individual members and VUB project staff and it is the Association's highlight activity each year; and

WHEREAS, the theme of the conference is A Time to Reset:  Resilience, Recalibration, and Realignment.  The conference planning committee hopes that the conference proves to be a great opportunity for the members to be resilient, to recalibrate and to realign with fresh ideas and best practices that you can implement to help achieve your goals and objectives.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph C. Winfield, Mayor of Oro Valley, do hereby proclaim April 26, 2022 as

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF VETERANS UPWARD BOUND DAY
