Education and Sharing Day 2024

WHEREAS, the basis for the continuity of any society is education; and in the Town of Oro Valley, the education of our youth is a priority; and

WHEREAS, to achieve its highest goals, education must not only impart knowledge but also teach the students how to live, forming and strengthening their moral character to make a better life for themselves as individuals and for society as a whole; and

WHEREAS, a global spiritual leader, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, stressed that a moral and ethical education empowers every individual to develop their full potential in making the world a better place; and

WHEREAS, such an education can nurture the unity of diverse peoples through encouraging increased acts of kindness, imbued with the awareness that even a single positive act can change the world and usher in an era of global peace; and

WHEREAS, "Education & Sharing Day" is observed each year on the Rebbe's birthday. April 19, 2024, will mark 122 years since the Rebbe’s birth, and this year begins the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of his leadership of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. “Chabad” is an acronym of three Hebrew words for “wisdom, understanding and knowledge”. The name “Lubavitch” comes from the city which served as the movement’s headquarters for over a century and means city of love.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joe Winfield, Mayor of Oro Valley, do hereby proclaim Friday, April 19, 2024, to be

EDUCATION AND SHARING DAY

in the Town of Oro Valley and call upon everyone to work together to create a better, brighter, and more promising future for all.
