Request a Zoning Interpretation

A zoning verification is an official letter issued by the Town of Oro Valley that addresses legal uses, zoning, compliance and development history, as requested.


Process

Step 1.Submit your Zoning Interpretation Request

  • All items must be provided in PDF format. 
  • Submit a formal application online through the customer portal with all required contents from the Zoning Interpretation Guide(PDF, 170KB). You can find the application under "Planning and Zoning" - "Zoning Interpretation." If you are new to the Town's customer portal, you will need to sign-up first.   • All fees must be paid upon submitting. Reviews will not begin until all fees are paid. Fees may be paid online. 

Step 2.Staff Review and Notification

  • Staff will review your request and contact you if there are any questions or missing information.
  • Once complete, the zoning interpretation, along with supporting documentation and payment receipt, will be available through the customer portal. 

  • Interpretations are published on the Town’s website and available at Town Hall for the public. Zoning interpretations may be appealed to the Board of Adjustment in accordance with Section 21.4.
