New event! Celebrate Oro Valley to be held April 13-15

The Town of Oro Valley is proud to announce a new, three-day celebration of the community we love. Celebrate Oro Valley will be held April 13-15, 2018, and includes various activities and locations so there is something for everyone. This year's theme, "Then & Now," will highlight the Town's founding year of 1974, showcasing the five pillars of our history: Arts & Culture, Science & Technology, Sports & Recreation, Landscape & Wildlife, Leadership & Direction.


Here's a breakdown of the weekend's festivities.

DAY 1: FRIDAY, APRIL 13
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Location: Historic Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Road
Live entertainment: A Cirque du Soleil-style dance performance by a dance group from Center Stage, and musical hits from the 60s and 70s performed by the Oh, For the Love of Music Band.

Admission is FREE. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the Jozarelli's Fine Italian Food Truck, the Bella's Gelato Dessert Food Truck, and the Sonoita Vineyards Wine Garden.

DAY 2: SATURDAY, APRIL 14
Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Historic Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Road
Stop by to experience horses and ranching activities that the Leiber Family enjoyed in the 1960s and 70s. Reminisce about what exciting things were happening in Oro Valley and at Steam Pump Ranch since its incorporation in 1974. The day's activities will also touch on each of the five pillars of history.

Admission is FREE. Activities include: children's craft projects, rocket making, a petting zoo, a pony ring, art shows, leadership and educational displays, special guest speakers, a James D. Kriegh meteorite display, dance demonstrations, and live music by Bill Ganz and David Rychener (old-time Country music), and the Retro Rockets (60s and 70s rock).

Food and beverages will be available for purchase at various food trucks and a beer garden.

DAY 3: SUNDAY, APRIL 15
Various times and locations.

Sunday's activities will focus on the Sports & Recreation pillar, as the event offers multiple ways to enjoy sports and outdoor recreation in Oro Valley.

Dyn-O-Mile Race
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Location: Oro Valley Community Center, 10555 N. La Cañada Drive
About the event: Our friends at On Your Left Fitness have organized a one-mile "Dyn-O-Mile" race that will be "Dyn-O-Mite!" Runners will have the opportunity to beat "Time," the seven-minute song by Pink Floyd, to win a special medal. Kickball Playoffs
Time: Games begin at 9 a.m.
Location: Naranja Park, 810 W. Naranja Drive
About the event: Join us at Naranja Park and cheer on your favorite team, as the Oro Valley Kickball League holds its first-ever playoffs. This event is FREE. Kickball League details can be found at www.orovalleyaz.gov.

Hiking & Cycling
Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Varies
About the event: For the hikers, walkers, joggers and cyclists, we invite you to enjoy the beauty that surrounds Oro Valley by joining us for one of two options:
Option 1 is a guided hike through Catalina State Park. Please meet at Chase Bank (in the Oro Valley Marketplace at Oracle/Tangerine) at 8 a.m. to carpool (entry fee is $3.50 per car).
Option 2 is a walk, jog or bike ride along the CDO path from Steam Pump Ranch (10901 N. Oracle Road). Meet us at the Ranch at 8 a.m. Cyclists will head left on the path; walkers and runners will go right. This option is FREE.
