For the twenty-sixth consecutive year, the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the Town of Oro Valley by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada for the Town’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment for the Town.

In addition, the GFOA awarded the Town its eighth consecutive Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR). The Town’s Procurement Division also received its thirteenth consecutive Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Institute for Procurement.

"Twenty-six years is a remarkable achievement for the CAFR award, as is eight consecutive years for the PAFR award. The Town is fortunate to have such a qualified and professional finance team taking care of the Town’s finances and contracts and looking out for the financial wellbeing of the Town. I am thankful for this team and their work, and I am pleased that the GFOA has recognized the Town with these awards,” said Town Manager Mary Jacobs. “We develop the CAFR and PAFR, along with several other documents, to communicate our financial position to our citizens. Accurate and clear financial reporting is of utmost importance to the Town."

An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has also been awarded to the Town of Oro Valley’s Finance Department, as the department primarily responsible for preparing the CAFR. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award
This award is earned by organizations that demonstrate excellence in innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization. The Procurement Division first received this award in 2008.

In addition to the CAFR and PAFR, the Town publishes a Know Your Town’s Budget document each year to provide residents a look into how the Town budgets and allocates its resources. These documents, and financial reports and documents, can be found on the Finance Department’s webpage under the “Annual Financial Reports and Documents” tab.
