Aquatic Center Improvements

UPDATED 02/14/2023

  • Installation of new pool filtration system and circulation plumbing: The existing pool filters have reached the end of their useful life and will be removed and replaced with modern, deep bed filters. These new filters will be filled with an advanced glass media that will allow for a more fine filtration to ensure a high standard of water quality. The Aquatic Center’s pump room plumbing will be replaced and redesigned to fit the new layout these filters will create. To accommodate for the size of the new filters and the increase in quantity, the pump room building itself will be expanded to the east. This new area will be enclosed for the expansion and will not cause any loss of deck space for the public.

COMPLETED

  • Replacement of recreation pool heater: The existing recreation pool heater will be replaced with a high efficiency unit.
  • Competition dive block refurbishment: The existing competition dive blocks will be stripped down and reassembled with new block tops, handles, and block fins. These new modifications for the dive blocks have become the standard for competition use and will allow the Oro Valley Aquatic Center to continue to host high profile competitive events.
  • Replacement of spring diving boards: The existing spring boards have reached the end of their useful life and will be replaced with new boards. All four spring boards at the facility will be replaced.
  • General facility cleaning: While the facility is closed, staff will also take the opportunity to perform general maintenance and deep cleaning. This cleaning will include a thorough scrubbing, brushing, and vacuuming of each body of water with focus on removing the debris on the pool floor. Scrubbing will focus on pool tiles and grout lines. The surrounding deck area and restrooms will be scrubbed and cleaned. Landscaping will also be addressed around the facility.

Membership Information: All 6- and 12-month memberships were automatically extended for three months. Month-to-month memberships will not be billed during December through February. Month-to-month memberships will be charged on your regular renewal date in March.
