On February 5, 2020 Oro Valley Police Department was contacted regarding a 14 year old girl who had run away from home. OVPD was able to locate the girl in the City of Tucson. Through interviews and cell phone forensic analysis it was determined she was attempting to run away from Arizona to Michigan in order to meet with 44 year old Gerard Dickinson, who is a long haul truck driver.
A subsequent investigation by detectives, revealed several conversations between victim and Dickinson which showed he was anticipating a sexual relationship, had received sexually explicit images of the victim and knew she was 14 years old. On February 8, 2020 Oro Valley Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, coordinated with Michigan State Police and they took Dickinson into custody. Dickinson is currently in custody awaiting extradition from Michigan’s Saginaw County Jail to Pima County. Gerard Dickinson is being charged with the following:
