Oro Valley, Arizona (March 31, 2021) – On April 20 and 21, the roundabout at Hardy Road and Northern Avenue will be completely closed to through traffic while crews perform roadway surface treatments and striping. Motorists will need to seek alternate routes. Please see map below of affected areas, which are marked in blue. Surface treatments are essential to the quality and lifespan of a roadway. An asphalt surface treatment creates a waterproof covering for the existing pavement, offering preventive maintenance from the effects of sun and water, both of which deteriorate the pavement structure. The treatment also preserves the existing asphalt binder by preventing oxidative damage. As a result, Oro Valley’s streets last longer and cost less to maintain. Additional reminders about this closure will be posted to the Town of Oro Valley social media channels in mid-April.
