The Town of Oro Valley Public Works Department has hired Borderland Construction to make improvements to the median on La Cañada Drive near the Leman Academy entrance. The initial phase of the project will begin Monday, December 21 and run through Monday, January 11, depending on weather conditions and material availability.

For the safety of construction personnel and the traveling public, the speed limit will be reduced to 25 MPH in the project area during construction and temporary lane restrictions will be implemented. Drivers are encouraged to observe the posted speed limit and signage in the area. Delays during morning and afternoon commute times are likely; please plan accordingly.

“The school is making changes to its traffic circulation and flow of vehicles for student drop off and pick up, and the Town is working in coordination with Leman Academy to make changes to the roadway that will improve public safety. In addition to being safer, this should help with congestion—before and after school—on La Cañada Drive,” said Public Works Director Paul Keesler.

Traffic control barricades will remain in place after the initial phase of work until the contractor returns during Leman Academy’s spring break and completes the improvements. The median on La Cañada Drive will be reconfigured to accommodate vehicles entering and exiting the school. Please be advised of construction personnel and heavy equipment in the project area.
