Apply for approval of your art work

Art is required for all nonresidential developments. Approval of the art work is required before installation and receipt of a final Certificate of Occupancy. Art approval is divided into two phases: Conceptual Art Review and Final Art Review. Please see below, for more information about each.

Art Plan Review

Step 1.Review the art requirements

Step 2.Submit a formal application online

  • All items must be provided in PDF format.
  • Submit a formal application online through the customer portal with all the required contents from the Art Plan Guide(PDF, 426KB). If you are new to the Town's customer portal, you will need to sign-up first. A short video about the customer portal is available HERE
  • All fees must be paid upon submitting. Reviews will not begin until all fees are paid. Fees may be paid online.

Step 3.Staff review

  • All applicable departments will review your submittal for code compliance
  • Staff comments will be provided within 20 working days of a complete submittal
  • A revised application addressing staff comments must be resubmitted. Additional revised submittals may be necessary if code issues are not adequately addressed.
  • Art pieces found through a "call for artists" process may be administratively approved once all staff comments are addressed. For more information about this process, please click here. Otherwise the application will be scheduled for consideration by the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Step 4.Present and answer questions at the Planning and Zoning Commission Public Meeting (if applicable)

  • Art requires consideration by the Planning and Zoning Commission
  • Staff will provide a staff report regarding compliance to the zoning code
  • A staff presentation will be provided outlining the proposed application followed by staff’s recommendation
  • You will also be provided an opportunity to present your application

Step 5.Present and answer questions at the Town Council Public Meeting (if applicable)

  • Following a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission, Town Council will consider the application
  • Staff will provide a staff report regarding Zoning Code compliance
  • If necessary, a staff presentation will be provided outlining the proposed application followed by the Planning and Zoning Commission’s recommendation
  • If necessary, the applicant will be provided an opportunity to present their application

Step 6.Next steps

  • If applicable, final art is required to address any conditions or remaining comments from conceptual art review. Final art is reviewed for conformance with the conceptual art previously approved by Town Council and all applicable zoning code standards. Final art may be administratively approved.
  • Upon approval of the art plan, you may proceed to acquiring any necessary building permits or installation.
