What is SolarAPP+

SolarAPP+ (short for Solar Automated Permit Processing) is a third-party software program that can be used to verify code compliance for residential photovoltaic (PV) projects.

SolarAPP+ automatically performs a compliance check based on inputs supplied by the contractor to ensure the proposed system is safe and code compliant. 

Why use SolarAPP+

Submitting SolarAPP+ approved plans into the Town of Oro Valley permitting system allows the permit to be issued within 24 hours (excluding holidays and weekends). No waiting for Town staff to process, review and issue the permit which was usually a 10 business day process.

How do I get a Town of Oro Valley permit

Visit the Town of Oro Valley Customer Portal and apply for a Residential Building permit.

Select either SolarAPP+ without storage or SolarAPP+ with storage, depending on the specific project. 

Input the requested information and upload the Solar APP+ approved plans.  Once the Town's permitting fees are paid, the permit will be issued within 24 hours (excluding holidays and weekends).

Inspections

Site inspections are preformed by the Town of Oro Valley Building Code inspectors.  The customer will request inspections through the Town's Customer Portal.
