Oro Valley seeks to fill various board and commission vacancies

ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Oct. 2, 2025) – The Town of Oro Valley is accepting applications from residents who are interested in serving on a board or commission. Oro Valley boards and commissions provide an opportunity for residents to be active in Town government.

To serve on any board or commission, members must be residents of Oro Valley, be able to attend the designated meetings, and complete the Town’s Community Academy within their term. These positions will remain open until they are filled.

The following boards and commissions have current and/or upcoming vacancies.

Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment (BOA) has one (1) open position. BOA members serve a two-year term. The BOA is a quasi-judicial board and has the power to review and decide on administrative decisions or zoning requirements that create unnecessary hardships in the development of property because of exceptional or extraordinary conditions. Since the Boards of Adjustment is quasi-judicial, the Board makes final decisions on items that come before it. The board meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month as required at 3 p.m.

Budget and Finance Commission
The Budget and Finance Commission (BFC) has two (2) open positions. BFC members serve a two-year term. The commission advises Town Council on policy-related issues related to the financial operation of Oro Valley, including review of the Town Manager’s recommended budget and review of the Town’s annual financial audit. A background or experience in accounting, finance, banking, investments or other related business administration is required. The commission meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) has one (1) open position. HPC members serve a three-year term. The HPC was formed to promote the educational, cultural and economic welfare of Oro Valley by ensuring the preservation of historic buildings, districts, landmarks, structures, documents, photographs, and other artifacts that represent the historic background and development of the greater Oro Valley area. The HPC meets on an as needed basis based on required business.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) has one (1) open position. PRAB members serve a two-year term. The board acts in an advisory capacity to the Town Council on matters pertaining to parks and recreation, park design, open space, and trail use. The board meets at least four times per year at 6 p.m.

Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) has one (1) open position. PZC members serve a two-year term. The commission holds public meetings and makes recommendations to the Town Council on matters relating to the General Plan, zoning code amendments, rezoning’s, and other land use requests. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.

Stormwater Utility Commission
The Stormwater Utility Commission (SWUC) has four (4) open positions. SWUC members serve a two-year term. The commission makes recommendations to the Town Council on issues relating to flood control and stormwater quality management and the issuance of bonds for stormwater activities and prescribes service charges. The commission meets on the third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m.

Water Utility Commission
The Water Utility Commission (WUC) has two (2) open positions. WUC members serve a three-year term. The commission members advise the Town Council on issues related to water policies, water rates, water resources and water conservation. The commission meets on the second Monday of every month at 5 p.m.

Pima Association of Governments (PAG) Environmental Planning Advisory Committee (EPAC) Oro Valley Representative
The Town of Oro Valley provides a representative to be part of the Pima Association of Governments Environmental Planning Advisory Committee. The committee provides technical reviews and develops recommendations on environmental plans, studies, reports and programs to the Pima Association of Governments management. Every year, the committee recommends a key list of environmental issues likely to be of note for the region during the coming year. EPAC meets four times per year, or as needed.
