ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (September 16, 2026) – The Town of Oro Valley’s “Community Model Homes” program and website are now live. This is your opportunity to build a guest home or home quicker and at less cost.

Residents can find the program homepage on the Town’s website. There, residents can browse the accompanying Model Plan Library, FAQ page, and Program Handbook.

The Community Model Homes program introduces housing models pre-approved by the Town for construction in residential areas, including:

  • Accessory Dwelling Units: Also known as ADUs, guest houses, or casitas. Attached or detached buildings designed for occupancy on the same lot or parcel as a single-family dwelling of greater square footage. These buildings must include their own sleeping and sanitation facilities and may have kitchen facilities.
  • Single-Family Units: Buildings designed for occupancy by one (1) family.
  • Two-Family (Duplex) Units (Beginning 2027): Buildings designed for occupancy by two (2) families.
  • Three-Family (Triplex) Units (Beginning 2027): Buildings designed for occupancy by three (3) families.

Community Model Homes are designed by local design professionals and builders, are published by the Town, and are available for use by any interested residents. Browse all available Community Model Homes in the Model Plan Library.
