DUI Enforcement

Driving under the influence is one of the most preventable, yet all too frequently committed, crimes in society today. The Oro Valley Police Department is proud to have one of the most aggressive DUI enforcement programs in Southern Arizona.

The DUI Enforcement is comprised of officers dedicated solely to actively seeking impaired drivers. They are supplemented in their task by regular patrol officers who have developed special skills in the area of drug recognition and phlebotomy. The Police Department also maintains Drug Recognition Experts (DRE's) and phlebotomists.

DUI officers actively seek impaired drivers and assume the lead investigator role in impairment investigations initiated by patrol officers. They are well versed in the field of impaired driver investigations and drive police cars outfitted with the latest technology in the area of DUI enforcement.

The DRE's handle the vast majority of all drug ingestion cases for the Department. The phlebotomists conduct our own evidentiary blood draws thus greatly reducing the time it takes to conduct a DUI investigation.

The Oro Valley Police Department is a proud participant in the Southern Arizona DUI Task Force and participates in regional DUI checkpoint deployments each year.

In addition to enforcement, our DUI officers spend many hours conducting educational classes at Canyon Del Oro and Ironwood Ridge High Schools in addition to teaching classes in our Citizen Academies for both adults and juveniles.
