ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (July 26, 2022) – The Town of Oro Valley invites residents to participate in a Community Conversation on Mental Health on Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m. in the Oro Valley Council Chambers (11000 N. La Cañada Drive).

This first-time event is hosted by the Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Department and will feature a panel of representatives from the Oro Valley Police Department, Oro Valley Parks and Recreation, Golder Ranch Fire District, Arizona Complete Health and local mental health professionals.

The community is invited to come and learn about local mental health resources, have insightful conversations and ask questions to panel members. The event is free and will also be available virtually via Zoom. See” Zoom Details” below for more information.

“Over the past two years, Mental Health has been discussed a lot – on TV, on podcasts, in publications, and even at kitchen tables. It is well researched that connecting to others and to nature help in managing anxiety. It is also well known that in crisis people call 911,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kristy Diaz-Trahan. “My vision is to have a community conversation about Mental Health in the context of what Parks and Recreation can offer, provide educational resources for a crisis or an emergency, and include professionals in the industry to create an inclusive discussion for our community.”

For questions about this event, please email the Parks and Recreation Department at recreation@orovalleyaz.gov or call at 520-229-5050.
