ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (March 13, 2025) – The Oro Valley Triathlon and Duathlon Festival returns for its 11th year on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., at James D. Kreigh Park (23 W. Calle Concordia), welcoming athletes from across the globe and bringing economic impact to the region.
This festival has grown into Southern Arizona’s premier triathlon and duathlon festival, attracting athletes from across the country and beyond. This year, 510 competitors from 32 states, Canada, and Poland, will take on the challenge, with ages ranging from 14 to 86 years old. Notably, 50 percent of participants are first-time participants, underscoring the event’s welcoming and inclusive nature.
The festival is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, and hosted by On Your Left Fitness and Timing, sponsored by Explore Oro Valley, the Town of Oro Valley, and other business sponsors.
A boost for the local economy
Beyond the finish line, the Oro Valley Triathlon and Duathlon Festival strengthens the Town’s profile as a premier destination for endurance sports. With participants and spectators traveling from around the country, the event is expected to generate nearly $100,000 in tourism revenue, benefiting local hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
“The OV Triathlon and Duathlon Festival not only brings athletes together for a world-class competition experience but also showcases our Town’s commitment to fostering a thriving sports tourism industry,” said Crystal Franke, Oro Valley’s Destination Marketing Manager. “Oro Valley is building a reputation as a hub for endurance sports, and we look forward to welcoming competitors, families, and supporters to experience all our community has to offer.”
Oro Valley’s commitment to hosting endurance events is part of a broader strategy to grow sports tourism and support local businesses. Events like the Arizona Distance Classic, Tucson Marathon, Oro Valley Circuit Race, and professional cycling training with Project Echelon, have solidified the Town’s reputation as a top-tier sports and recreation hub.
“Oro Valley’s natural beauty, ideal weather, and investment in sports infrastructure have made us a prime destination for endurance athletes,” said Paul Melcher, Community and Economic Development Director. “We are proud to welcome competitors back for the 11th annual Oro Valley Triathlon festival, reinforcing our commitment to outdoor recreation while driving economic benefits for local businesses.”
