ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Nov. 7, 2022) – The Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Community Conversation on Mental Health event on Thursday, December 8, at 6 p.m. in the Oro Valley Council Chambers (11000 N. La Cañada Drive). The event is free and will also be available virtually via Zoom. See “Zoom Details” below for more information.

The community is invited to learn about navigating the added stress and anxiety that can come with the holiday season. The event will feature a panel of representatives from the Oro Valley Police Department, Oro Valley Parks and Recreation, Golder Ranch Fire District, Arizona Complete Health and local mental health professionals. The panel will share insights and resources, as well as answer questions from the audience.

“As wonderful as the holiday season is, it also comes with additional pressure. From the rising cost of food, gas and toys to deciding where to spend Christmas, navigating the holiday season can be very stressful,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kristy Diaz-Trahan. “This community conversation is intended to provide tips and resources to help get through the stressful and sometimes difficult moments unique to the holiday season.”

The Community Conversation on Mental Health series began this year to bring attention to mental and emotional wellness. For questions about this event, please email the Parks and Recreation Department at recreation@orovalleyaz.gov or call 520-229-5050.

Lastly, some of you may have noticed the event was originally scheduled for November 10; however, we had to reschedule to accommodate a special Town Council session. The Town of Oro Valley appreciates your patience and understanding.
