OV Trails Connect

Nature Hike-53.jpg

The Town of Oro Valley offers a unique experience for folks of all abilities to connect with nature, people, and places by walking, hiking, biking, or horseback riding along the Town’s many pathways. The Town is working on OV Trails Connect: Planning Future Trails and Paths—a planning effort to shape OV’s unpaved trails and paved multi-use path network. Whether you stroll, roll, hike, trot, or run, we want to hear from you. Your part will make a difference! Opinions and ideas received from the community will have a direct impact on the development of the goals, objectives, and action items for OV Trails Connect.

Background

Oro Valley's last trail focus planning effort occurred in 2010. Since that time, Oro Valley's population and trail usage has expanded. The Town's trail system has been a focus area for residents in various planning efforts and  the Town Council Strategic Leadership Plan identified the need to create a Trails Plan for the future.  As such OV Trails Connect has been launched to identify improvements and needs that are determined by resident participation.

OV Trails Connect focuses on more than one path and trail type. These types are outlined below:

Unpaved natural trails: For example, Big Wash, Panorama Trails, Honey Bee Canyon Park)

Paved multi-use paths: Examples include The Loop, Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve, and paths along but separate from roadways such as Tangerine Road)

The effort will be undertaken in 4 phases. The graphic below illustrates the components of each phase.

Everyone is welcome to participate and the best time for residents to guide town decisions is now.
