ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Feb. 5, 2026) – On February 2, 2026, the Town of Oro Valley cut the ribbon on a multi-year Town Court expansion and improvement project that greatly improves the safety and efficiency of operations for court staff and visitors alike. The Court is located in Building B of the Oro Valley Town Hall campus, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.

Construction on this notable Capital Improvement Project began April 1, 2024, and was completed within the $3.1 million project budget.

The project included features that prioritized the safety and efficiency of Court staff, visitors and operations, including:

  • Additional 2,000 square feet to the existing facility
  • Secure, controlled entryway
  • Expanded, remodeled and fully secure lobby
  • Two meeting rooms for attorney-client conversations
  • Jury deliberation room
  • Sally port to facilitate the safe transfer of detainees
  • Secure holding cell for detainees
  • Public restrooms
  • Improved office space and breakroom for the Judge, probation officer and employees

The Town’s Public Works Department led the project, in coordination with Breckenridge Group (architecture), Barker Contracting (building expansion and remodel), and Building Excellence (sally port construction).

Excerpts from Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield’s remarks:

  • This expansion and remodel are more than a physical improvement. They reflect the thoughtful investment in safety, efficiency and the fair administration of justice in Oro Valley.
  • Judge Hazel has built a Court team focused on serving everyone who comes through these doors with dignity and respect, recognizing that how justice is delivered matters just as much as the outcome.
  • As we open these doors today, we’re also opening the doors to a long-term commitment to fairness, accessibility, efficiency and respect for the rule of law.

Also providing remarks at the ribbon cutting were: Presiding Magistrate Judge James Hazel; Judge Karl C. Eppich, Vice Chief Judge, Arizona Court of Appeals; and Judge Danelle Liwski, Presiding Judge, Pima County Superior Court.
