ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (Sept. 11, 2025) – The Town of Oro Valley hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to officially mark the completion of the Pusch Ridge Tennis Facility event space, a significant step forward in strengthening Oro Valley’s strong tennis culture.

Town officials, tennis players, neighbors, community members and project partners gathered underneath the two new shade structures to recognize the completion of this project, which also added concrete pads, bleachers, picnic benches and artificial turf in just three months.

This new event space at the Pusch Ridge Tennis Facility provides a welcoming environment for all guests. It includes shaded seating for spectators, rest areas for players, and a large space for community gatherings and special events.

“This is so much more than shade and seating,” said Town Councilmember Elizabeth Robb in her remarks at the ribbon-cutting event. “It’s an investment in Oro Valley’s strong tennis culture. It supports the great programs here at Pusch Ridge, and it’s a great example of the Town’s commitment to continuously improving our amenities; not just for today, but for generations of residents and players to come.”

A Community-Driven Effort

The Pusch Ridge Tennis Facility has a long history in shaping Oro Valley’s tennis legacy. When the property first opened in 1984 as part of the Sheraton El Conquistador Resort, it boasted 16 courts and quickly gained national recognition by hosting high-profile tournaments. In 2014, the Town of Oro Valley acquired the facility and, three years later, El Conquistador Tennis LLC was formed to manage programming and operations.

“This facility has always been about more than just tennis courts because it’s about building a community,” said El Conquistador Tennis Director Jennifer Fuchs, who has led the program for more than 30 years. “From national tournaments that put Oro Valley on the map to the day-to-day joy of members and players, this new event space is the next chapter in ensuring that tennis remains a vibrant part of Oro Valley life.”

Recent and related Town investments also included reconstruction of the tennis courts at the Community and Recreation Center in 2022.

The Pusch Ridge event space project was made possible through strong community advocacy, Town Council leadership and a strategic investment in public infrastructure. Construction on this new event space began in May 2025 and was completed by Kittle Design & Construction and Tucson Awning & Screen last month.
