ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (April 28, 2025) – Officers with Oro Valley Police were called to Tohono Chul Park on April 28th, just before 7 pm. The call was a report of gun shots heard in the area of the park. While checking the park, which was closed, the responding officers contacted a male who was armed. At that point, an officer involved shooting occurred. The shooting resulted in one male subject being shot. Officers on scene rendered first aid until relieved by fire personnel. He was declared deceased at the scene.
The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team (PRCIT) responded to the scene, which is standard practice in these incidents. Pima County Sheriff’s Department will take over as the primary agency for the investigation.
No officers or other community members were injured in the incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
