Nine student artists from BASIS Oro Valley, Canyon Del Oro High School and Ironwood Ridge High School have been creating sculpture concepts inspired by Oro Valley’s desert wildlife. Once the residents of Oro Valley select their three favorite designs, the students will work alongside professional artist Hiro Tashima to construct the sculptures.

This exciting project is part of the Transportation Art by Youth (TABY) program and funded by the Pima Association of Governments (PAG).

About the Transportation Art by Youth (TABY) program

Since 1995, the PAG-funded TABY program has empowered youth artists to contribute to their communities through public art while gaining hands-on experience in the public art process, from concept development and community engagement to final construction and installation.

TABY projects are designed to empower young artists, humanize roadways and reflect the unique character of each community through accessible, public-facing art.
