Free sandbags for Oro Valley residents
Published on June 09, 2026
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (June 9, 2026) – Monsoon season is part of life in Oro Valley, and when the rain hits hard, storm runoff can show up fast. To help residents protect homes and property, the Town of Oro Valley will once again offer free sandbags beginning June 15.
Sandbags will be available starting mid-June 2026 and continue throughout the monsoon season, with the program running until September 30, 2026. Because supplies are limited, the program is reserved for Oro Valley residents, with a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle.
Pickup is designed to be straightforward, but it is self-service, so plan to come prepared. You’ll need to bring your own shovel, and you will fill and load the sandbags yourself.
The 2026 distribution site will be at Naranja Park, in an empty lot on the east side of N Musette Drive, about 1,000 feet north of the intersection of W Naranja Drive and N Musette Drive. Click here to see map.
For residents who require assistance, the Town can also arrange an appointment for pickup of pre-bagged sand at a designated time. For questions or to schedule assistance, contact OV Stormwater Utility Staff at 520-229-4850 (option 3) or email pw@orovalleyaz.gov.
If your yard has a spot where it tends to pool, or you’ve seen runoff move toward a garage, patio door, or low doorway, consider picking up sandbags early. A little preparation now can make a big difference when the next storm rolls through.
