Major upgrades to broadband infrastructure will expand high-speed fiber-optic service. Construction activity is expected to begin Fall 2025 and continue through Spring 2026. These efforts will bring enhanced Fiber-to-the-Home connectivity for residents and businesses in Oro Valley.
Project Overview
This initiative is a private investment led by independent internet providers—including Wyyerd and Ripple Fiber—to deliver high-speed, reliable internet service directly to homes and businesses. This is commonly referred to as the “last mile.” Prospective customers will be offered enhanced fiber broadband service through these providers’ networks.
Separately, Pima County is advancing its federally funded “Middle Mile” broadband project, which provides the backbone infrastructure connecting communities across the region.
While the Town issues rights-of-way and construction permits, these fiber projects are not Town-funded. All work is privately financed and managed by the providers. The Town’s Information Technology and Public Works departments continue to coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with permit conditions, restoration standards and neighborhood notification requirements. Utility providers have the right to perform work within public utility easements (PUEs) for the maintenance and installation of telecommunications infrastructure.
