Voter Information

The Town of Oro Valley will have three Councilmember seats up for election for the August 6, 2024 July 30, 2024, Primary Election (*Primary Election date changed to July 30, 2024, per HB2785, signed into law on 2/9/24). Candidate(s) who receive a majority of votes cast in the Primary Election shall be declared elected. Candidate(s) who receive the highest number of votes but less than a majority of the votes cast at the Primary Election (up to twice the number of remaining positions to be filled) shall move on and run in the November 5, 2024, General Election.

Voter Registration, Vote Centers, and Active Early Voting Lists are the responsibility of the Pima County Recorder. For questions regarding voter registration, early ballots, or requests to be placed on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) please contact the Pima County Recorder’s Office at (520) 724-4330.

Voters registered as either “independent” or “party not designated” are eligible to vote in the Town of Oro Valley’s Primary Election. Independent or party not designated voters must contact the Pima County Recorder’s Office to request which partisan ballot, a non-partisan ballot, or municipal only ballot, they would like to receive. Independent or party not designated voters can also request a ballot in person at a Early Voting site or Vote Center. *Selecting a partisan ballot for the primary election will not affect an independent voter’s registration status.

July 8, July 1, 2024 - Last day to register to vote before the Primary Election

July 10, July 3, 2024 – Distribution of early ballots and early voting begins

July 26, July 19, 2024 – Last day for voters to request an early mail ballot for the Primary Election

July 23, 2024 – Recommended deadline to mail back your ballot

July 26, 2024 - Last day to vote early in-person

August 6, July 30, 2024 – PRIMARY ELECTION DAY

October 7, 2024 – Last day to register to vote in General Election

October 9, 2024 – Early voting begins for the General Election

October 25, 2024 – Last day to request a mailed ballot for the General Election

November 1, 2024 – Last day to vote early in person for the General Election

November 5, 2024 – GENERAL ELECTION DAY

E-QUAL

The Town of Oro Valley is using the Arizona Secretary of State’s E-Qual system to enable Council candidates to collect nomination petition signature online. Voters currently registered within the Town of Oro Valley may sign up to three (3) active candidate petitions for the office of Councilmember. To sign an active candidate petition, visit https://apps.azsos.gov/equal and click on “SIGN A CANDIDATE NOMINATING PETITION” and follow the onscreen instructions or refer to the E-QUAL GUIDE FOR VOTERS(PDF, 417KB).

 

Political signs in Public Rights-Of-Ways

Placing political signs in Public Rights-Of-Ways is permitted if it is 71 days or less before the date of the Primary Election (May 27, May 20, 2024). Political Signs must be located within one of the Temporary Sign Zones(PDF, 2MB), if it is more than 71 day before the date of the Primary Election. Signs placed in public rights-of-way cannot be in a location that is hazardous to public safety, obstruct the clear vision in the area or interfere with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
