Update - Arrest made in suspicious person near CDO High School

On March 24, 2016, the Oro Valley Police Department's (OVPD) Community Action Team (CAT) made contact with a male subject fitting the description of the suspect in a green van that approached a CDO student. Jesus Greer, a 66 year-old Hispanic male, admitted to speaking with the young male on March 4, 2016 when he was walking home from school and asked him if he needed a ride. 

Greer was booked into the Pima County Jail on misdemeanor alcohol charges; however, the investigation is ongoing.

Suspicious person near CDO high school

Oro Valley, Ariz. (March 7, 2016) - On March 4, 2016 Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) patrol responded to a report of suspicious activity near Calle Concordia and Oracle Road.  A male student of Canyon Del Oro (CDO) high school was walking home from school at approximately 2 p.m. when a male driving, an older model minivan, approached him and offered a ride.  The suspect asked the student four or five times to enter his car and the student told him no. 

The driver is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 50 years-old, with a grey and black mustache, and a wrinkled face.  The van is believed to be a forest green 1990’s minivan with plastic hub caps that were cracked. (similar to the van pictured below).

OVPD would like to remind everyone to talk to their children about what to do if they are approached by a stranger.  Never enter a car of unknown occupants, leave the area as fast as possible, tell a parent or police immediately if a stranger approaches you, and remember the saying “if you see it say it.”
