Traffic Light adjustment at La Cañada Drive and Naranja Drive Feb. 18 – 20

February 13, 2020

The Town of Oro Valley’s Public Works Department will be adjusting the traffic signals (aka stop lights) on La Cañada Drive at Naranja Drive February 18 – 20. This adjustment is being done to enhance traffic safety at the intersection and will restrict unprotected left turns. Once the traffic signals have been adjusted, left turns will only be allowed when the left turn arrow is green.

During the traffic signal adjustment there will be two days of lane restrictions (Feb. 19 & 20) on La Cañada Drive at the intersection between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Traffic on Naranja Drive will not be affected. There will be signage to direct drivers. Please slow down and give the crews space for their safety and yours. Here’s what to expect.

Tuesday, February 18
Town personnel will set up off of the roadway on northwest and southeast corners of the intersection and prepare for signal adjustment. Traffic flow should not be affected.

Wednesday, February 19
Town personnel will close select southbound and northbound lanes. See maps in document link at bottom of page. Number in yellow corresponds to these numbers. Black Xs mark lane closures.

  1. Southbound traffic – The left lane will be closed just north of the intersection and will remain closed a short distance south beyond the intersection. The left turn lane (to Naranja Drive) and right lane will remain open to traffic.
  2. Northbound traffic – The left turn lane (to Naranja Drive) will be closed. The left lane will become the left turn lane (look for signage). The left lane, just north of the intersection will be closed. Only the right lane will be open through the intersection.
