At the April 6 Oro Valley Town Council Meeting, Town Manager Greg Caton presented the Manager’s Recommended Budget  for FY 2016-17 in the amount of $117.4 million; a $2.3 million, or 1.9% decrease from the Adopted FY 2015-16 Budget totaling $119.7 million.

The nearly $57,000 surplus is in the Town's General Fund--its main operating fund. Click here to view the full version of the document.

The 1.9% decrease over last year is due to a reduction in budgeted capital expenses due to project completions, as well as a decrease in contingency reserves due to the planned use of these reserves for one-time capital projects.

“I am pleased to present the Town Manager’s Recommended Budget for fiscal year 2016/17,” said Town Manager Greg Caton. “Over the next month, we will discuss the budget in great detail; however, the most important point is that this comprehensive, balanced budget delivers the high-quality services and programs that our residents deserve. We are in a very strong financial condition, and this budget represents that. The financial discipline and leadership demonstrated by Council over the past several years is still paying off today.”

The Town’s budget is developed to support the voter-approved General Plan and the Town Council-adopted Strategic plan. Additionally, the FY 2016-17 budget is based on five core themes:

  • Fiscal Responsibility
  • Communication
  • Economic Development
  • Parks, Recreation and Cultural Development
  • Community Infrastructure and Services

As part of the budget process, Oro Valley Town Council will hold the following budget study sessions and public hearings in Council Chambers, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive, on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, April 13 @ 4 p.m. – Budget study session
