Stride into the New Year with the 6th annual Hot Cocoa 5K Run/Walk

Whether you were born to run, runnin’ down a dream or you just need to prove you still have the eye of the tiger, head on down to Steam Pump Ranch on New Year’s Day for the Town of Oro Valley’s 6th annual Hot Cocoa 5K Run/Walk. The race will take place along the multi-use path, beginning at Steam Pump Ranch, and will include snacks, water, and of course, hot cocoa.

This is a professionally-timed race, and prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners and five-year age group categories. It's a fun way to start your New Year's resolutions with the entire family. And new in 2020, all finishers will receive an award!

T-shirts will be available for purchase. Children 12 and under race for free with a paying adult. Proceeds will benefit Oro Valley’s Round Up for Youth Recreation Scholarship Program.

When: Wednesday, January 1 at 11:20 a.m.
Where: Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Road, Oro Valley
Entry fee: $20 before race day, $25 on race day
How to register:
Race number pickup and race registration are available Saturday, December 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Summit Hut, 7745 N. Oracle Road, Oro Valley.

Cheers Challenge: Participate in two races and earn a shirt proving your accomplishment. Runners and walkers 13 years old and over who register and participate in the Marana Parks & Recreation's Egg Nog Jog 5k/10k as well as the Hot Cocoa 5k Run/Walk will receive a shirt! The annual Egg Nog Jog in Marana takes place Tuesday, December 31 at 9:30 a.m. Please note new date and time for Egg Nog Jog and visit for more information about that event.

Please note: There will be a large number of runners and walkers along the CDO Shared Use path between La Cañada Drive and Steam Pump Ranch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 1. If possible, please avoid using this path during this time as there may be a lengthy delay to ensure participants’ safety. If it is necessary to utilize the path, be prepared to wait until directed by race organizers that it is safe to proceed.
