Spotlight on Youth: Raymond Rash

Raymond Rash, a senior at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy, is an athlete with a heart for community service. As a member of the Pusch Ridge swim team, he recently organized a fundraising challenge to benefit St. Jude's Children’s Hospital.

The goal was to have each student and faculty member contribute one dollar, and if they met their goal, all the members of the boy’s swim team would shave their heads before the state meet. As you may have guessed, they met and exceeded their goal, raising $670 for St. Jude’s.

This philanthropic swimmer is also an honors student and a drum major for the marching band. Raymond’s AP English teacher, Huntley Cooney, had this to say about him: "He is a come alongside type of leader. He's humble, not concerned with how he is seen by his peers. He always does the right thing, even if unpopular.  He extends the same respect to someone in authority as to his peers, as to the underclassmen. He never seems to think of himself, only others."
