OV Town Council seeking community input on police chief recruitment

OVPD patch

Oro Valley Town Council is currently seeking public input as part of its police chief recruitment process. Chief of Police Daniel G. Sharp, who has been with the Town of Oro Valley for more than 20 years, will be retiring this February, so Council is working with executive search firm, Novak Consulting Group, to help facilitate the process.

October 17, 2019

The chief of police is a Council-appointed position in Oro Valley; however, Council is first seeking community input for their consideration in making this very important decision.

Novak Consulting Group has set up a brief, online survey that asks Oro Valley residents for their input on important traits in a police chief as well as priorities for whomever is selected for this position. Since this process is being managed by a third party, responses are anonymous and will go directly to the consulting firm. A summary of the responses will be shared with Council and the top candidates who participate in interviews. The survey closes on October 30, 2019.

The survey can be found at:

Public safety promotes economic growth and allows families and businesses to thrive. That is why public safety continues to be a top priority for the residents of Oro Valley, as demonstrated in the voter-approved Your Voice, Our Future General Plan. In fact, this year, Oro Valley was ranked the “Safest City in Arizona” by SafeWise.

Oro Valley residents can help continue the Town’s reputation for public safety excellence by participating in this survey.
