Oro Valley adopts veterans preference amendment to hiring policy

March 20, 2017

At its March 15, 2017 regular meeting, Oro Valley Town Council voted to adopt an amendment to Personnel Policy 7, which adds a preferential consideration for eligible, qualified veterans who apply for jobs with the Town of Oro Valley. The policy ensures that the Town continues to meet or exceed the requirements of Arizona Revised Statutes Title 38, Chapter 3, Article 7: Civil Service Preference for Veterans.

“In a nutshell, this policy means that any eligible veteran who meets the minimum qualifications for a position will be granted an interview,” said Human Resources Director Gary Bridget. “This policy also reflects the Council’s desire to support all who have served in the armed forces by ensuring that the Town of Oro Valley is a veteran-friendly employer.”
