National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

April 4, 2018

April 8 – 14, 2018 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators week. This week is a time to say “thank you” to the professionals whose decision making skills often save lives. Telecommunicators work long hours, weekends and holidays and ensure police, fire and medical assistance can be provided to our citizens.

The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) Communications Bureau is the Public Safety Answering Point for the Town of Oro Valley, answering all 911 calls placed within the Town limits. The Bureau is staffed 24-hours a day, year round with 13 full-time dispatchers. In 2017, this group of telecommunicators handled over 53,908 telephone transactions and dispatched over 18,367 calls for service.

To show their appreciation to these hard working professionals, the OVPD command staff will be providing lunch and will be highlighting various dispatchers on our Facebook page.
