Haunted Hayrides, a Monster Mash, a Spooktacular and something for the dogs!

Don’t work too late in the lab this October! Oro Valley’s Parks and Recreation Department offers up a fun-filled October of family-friendly events, including Haunted Hayrides, a Monster Mash, a Spooktacular and the Fifth Annual Doggie Dash ‘n Dawdle! Mark your calendars!

Date: Friday, October 4
Time: 4 – 9 p.m.
Location: Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Road
Audience: This event is spookier than the Oct. 26 Halloween Spooktacular and may be more suitable for older kids.

We all go a little mad sometimes, so get out and shake your bones to the best haunted tunes of all-time! Join us for a howlingly fun night of activities that include a scary movie scavenger hunt, spooky carnival games, pumpkin decorating, Halloween crafts, food trucks, Witches Brew (root beer) and haunted hayrides.

Admission to the event is FREE, but some Monster Mash activities do require a fee.

Parking: Parking will be available at Steam Pump Village.

They’re here! And they’re scarier than ever! Watch local history (and the dead) come to life right before your eyes, as this hayride takes you on a haunted journey of mayhem and spooky local folklore! Please note that the hayride may be a little too spooky for very young children. Parental discretion is advised.

Friday, October 4, 6 – 9 p.m. (in conjunction with the Monster Mash event)

Saturday, October 5, 5 – 9 p.m.

Friday, October 11, 5 – 9 p.m.

Saturday, October 12 - 18, 5 – 9 p.m.

Friday, October 18, 5 – 9 p.m.

Fee:       Adults 13 and up $5
              Children 12 and under $3

Parking: Parking will be available at Steam Pump Village.

Visit the Town’s CivicRec software and purchase your tickets in advance. Due to the popularity of this event, seats on the hayrides are limited. No exceptions. Not even for zombies.


Date: Friday, October 25
Time: 5 p.m. 
Location: Oro Valley Community Center, 10555 N. La Cañada Drive
Audience: Family-friendly. This event is designed especially for young children.

Description: You’ll find no tricks, only treats at the Halloween Spooktacular! Admission is FREE. Some events require a fee. Free activities include games, costumes, trick-or-treating down Candy Cart Lane, a live (but mostly dead) DJ and much more. 25 organizations will be handing out candy! Food will be available for purchase.

Hayride Fee:      $2 per ride

Parking: Parking will be available at the Oro Valley Community Center. Overflow parking will be at the Oro Valley Town Hall. OVPD officers will be stationed at the walking to the Community Center. And they’ll be handing out candy!

Date: Saturday, October 26
Time: 5 – 8 p.m.
Location: Riverfront Park, 551 W. Lambert Lane

Description: This all-ages event is part dog festival and part run/walk. The festival is free, and includes crafts, a dog costume contest, training demos and free dog swag.

Runners and walkers have the option of a one- or two-mile race with their four-legged friends.

Races begin at 5:30 p.m.

Fee:       $10 advance (by Oct 12)
              $15 through race day.

Fee includes a Doggie Dash 'n Dawdle souvenir, giveaways and a medal.
