Halloween happenings in the OV

Did you know the Town of Oro Valley has not one, but FOUR Halloween-themed events this October? With multiple days and various interests, there is something for everyone, so mark your calendars now! Learn more about Oro Valley’s year-round special events by visiting

Date: Saturday, October 14, 2017
Time: 4 – 9 p.m.
Location: Steam Pump Ranch, 10901 N. Oracle Road
Audience: Family-friendly. (This event is a little spookier than the Oct. 27 Halloween Spooktacular, and may be more suitable for older kids.)

Description: Free activities include pumpkin decorating, crafts, spooky maze, spook alley, a scary movie scavenger hunt, a DJ spinning haunted tunes and a PG-rated movie on the big screen. There will also be a free, costumed “Fun Run” for kids. (No registration required.) The race is one mile long and begins at 5:30 p.m. Food trucks will be onsite for your refreshment needs.

For the runners and walkers out there, the Town of Oro Valley has once again partnered with On Your Left Fitness to offer a spooky 5K and 10K run/walk as part of the Monster Mash. Both races begin at 4 p.m. at Steam Pump Ranch, and include great prizes. Costumes are encouraged! Registration is $50 in advance; $60 on race day. Register at

Date: Saturday, October 21, 2017
Time: 8 – 11 a.m.  
Location: Oro Valley Archery Range at Naranja Park, 810 W. Naranja Drive
Audience: Archers ages 8+

Description: Free archery event with zombie targets on the fixed range, pumpkin shooting, and a 14-target, 3D fun shoot on the west walking course. Shooters must be at least eight years old. Please bring your own bows and arrows. (No crossbows.)

Time: 5 – 8 p.m. 
Location: Oro Valley Community Center, 10555 N. La Cañada Drive
Audience: Family-friendly. (This event is designed especially for young children.)

Description: Free activities include games, activities, costumes, trick-or-treating down Candy Cart Lane and much more. Enjoy costumed staff, including Kylo Ren and R2D2 from Star Wars! Food will be available for purchase, and tractor-pulled hayrides are $2.

Date: Saturday, October 28, 2017
Time: 9 a.m. – noon  
Location: Riverfront Park, 551 W. Lambert Lane.
Audience: Dog owners of all ages

Description: This fun event is part dog festival and part run/walk. The festival is free, and includes crafts, a dog costume contest, training demos and free dog stuff. Runners and walkers have the option of a one- or two-mile race with their four-legged friends. Registration for the race is just $10 in advance, and $15 on race day.
