Various mixed media paintings by Jan Sennewald on wall

Jan works in the medium of acrylic, watercolor and pastel. Starting as a representational artist, her love of self expression in 'abstract mixed media' has evolved to enjoying the use of color, texture, and form in a new imaginative way. She feels there is a strong element of 'magic' and 'originality' in making art and hopes it is impressed upon the viewer in the same way.

She feels there is a strong element of 'magic' and 'originality' in making art and hopes it is impressed upon the viewer in the same way.

She credits her love of art was a result of her mother's encouragement, ability to draw and teaching her to se the beauty of nature. Her art education started at home, continued to college level, self-study, and workshops with Bob Burridge, Skip Lawrence, Pat Dews, Tom Owen, Lian Quan Zhen and others.

Following retirement from a 20+ year career in Human Resource Management, Jan has taught beginning watercolor in California and Arizona (Highlands).
