Contractor to Chip Seal Temporary Access Road into Naranja Park

March 3, 2020

The Town of Oro Valley announced today that a contractor will chip seal* the temporary access road into Naranja Park between Musette Drive and the park’s multi-use fields on March 5 and 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. This work is to help minimize dust pollution and improve access to the park via the temporary road – which will remain open – during the chip seal application.

Sunland Asphalt, the contractor, will apply the first layer of chip seal on Thursday, March 5, closing half the road at a time to allow traffic access to the park. On Friday, March 6 the contractor will apply the second layer of chip seal, closing half the road while the other half remains open to traffic.

Park users entering or exiting the park using the road during this time should not exceed the 15 MPH speed limit. Please observe and obey construction signage and yield to the contractor’s personnel and equipment.

Once the chip seal application is complete on Friday, the contractor will sweep and clean the access road into Naranja Park.

This work is part of the Naranja Park Playground project, which will create an ‘epic’ playground at Naranja Park, which should be completed late Summer 2020!

*A chip seal is a pavement surface treatment that combines asphalt and aggregate as an alternative to traditional asphalt paving.
