Arrest Made in Threat to CDO

August 21, 2019

On August 21, 2019 at approximate 6:39 a.m., Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) received a report of a threat to Canyon Del Oro (CDO) High School. A parent of a student attending CDO reported her child observed a threat made via computer warning other students not to attend school the next day and threatened the safety of the school. OVPD increased officer presence at the school while we worked to determine the validity of the threat.

OVPD School Resource Officers worked in conjunction with Amphitheater School officials to identify the suspect and arrest him. The suspect is a 15 year old male and is also a student at CDO. His name is being withheld because he is a minor. The student was charged with Interference with an Educational Institution and was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
