8th annual Drug Awareness Day

On April 15, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD), Fry’s Food Stores, Chick-fil-A and the Kyle Franks Foundation will host the 8th annual Drug Awareness Day.  The event, which is for all fifth-graders in Oro Valley and surrounding areas, will be held at Cañada Del Oro Riverfront Park, 551 W Lambert Lane.  This day in the park is designed to raise awareness of drug abuse while teaching students and parents about drug prevention.

OVPD Chief Sharp will hand out prizes and announce the essay winners.  Guest speakers include Oro Valley Mayor Dr. Satish I. Hiremath, Casas Church Youth/Student Pastor Peter Bourland and Anthony Coulson of NTH Consulting. 

Participating agencies include: OVPD, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Tucson Police Department, Marana Police Department, Department of Public Safety, Golder Ranch Fire District and Mountain Vista Fire District. 

OVPD would also like to thank the Children’s Museum, Arizona Zip Adventures, Old Tucson Studios and Mama’s Pizza for supporting this event.
