CDO Shared Use Path
The Cañada del Oro (CDO) Shared Use Path (also known as the CDO Linear Park) is a 4 mile paved path along the banks of the CDO Wash. This vehicle-free path is suitable for hiking, running, walking, roller blades, and strollers, and provides an outlet for recreation as well as an option for alternate mode commuting.
The CDO Shared Use Path was completed in two sections. The first section, from La Cañada Drive to First Avenue, is 2.7 miles, and was completed in 2008. It was funded with a combination of ADOT Transportation Enhancement funds, Pima County bond funds, and Town funds. The second section, from Steam Pump Village to Oro Valley Marketplace, was built by a developer; this section can be accessed from a number of points along the path.
The final .6 mile section, linking First Avenue with Steam Pump Village, was funded through ADOT Transportation Enhancement funds and Regional Tranportation Authority funds. This section began construction in September 2013 and was completed in early 2014.
The CDO Linear Park also connects with the Big Wash Shared Use Path, which runs adjacent to Oro Valley Marketplace and was built by Vestar. In total, the CDO/Big Wash Shared Use Path system provides about 7 miles of vehicle-free paths. This system also links to other shared use paths within the Town, including along La Cañada, First Avenue, Lambert Lane, and Tangerine Road, among others. It also links to bicycle routes within the Town.
Plans have been proposed for Naranja Drive from La Cañada to First Avenue, as well as extending the Big Wash Path up to Rancho Vistoso Boulevard.
The Town's Shared Use Path system CDO and Big Wash segments are considered to be "Loop Links," which are "spurs" of the Pima County "Loop" shared use path/linear park system which will provide over 120 miles of car-free facilities in the future.
Loop Fees: Effective September 1, 2016, the following fees wil be in effect for activities utilizing the Loop (shared use path) in Oro Valley.
- $1 per registrant for nonprofit
- $2 per registrant for profit and combined profit/nonprofit group
