Parks and Recreation Director
Kristy Diaz-Trahan joined the Town of Oro Valley in February, 2013, as the Parks and Recreation Department Director. Kristy has more than 20-years of professional experience and is excited to be part of Oro Valley’s future.
Prior to joining Oro Valley, Diaz-Trahan worked for the: (1) City of Albuquerque NM, Parks and Recreation Department as the Recreation Services Division Manager overseeing city youth and adult sports, extreme recreation, bicycle education and safety, tennis, indoor track (including collegiate championships and the USATF Indoor National Championship), and the internationally known Balloon Fiesta Park; (2) the Town of Marana AZ, as the Recreation Superintendent overseeing youth and adult sports, youth recreation, senior services, aquatics, and special events; (3) the City of Rio Rancho, NM as the Deputy Director of Senior Services; (4) Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Beach Resort, USVI as the Assistant Social Director; and (5) the City of Tucson, AZ, as a Recreation Assistant.
As the Parks and Recreation Department Director, Diaz-Trahan works directly for the Town Manager and is responsible for the management of all town facilities and programs associated with parks, recreation, aquatics, trails, and cultural resources.
Diaz-Trahan earned her BA in Business Management & Administration from New Mexico Highlands University. She is a member of National Recreation and Parks Association, Arizona Parks and Recreation Association, and New Mexico Recreation and Parks Association.
Kristy grew up in Southern Arizona, graduating from Wilcox High School. She enjoys the great outdoors, reading, travel, and spending time with her family and friends.
