Oro Valley to host first-ever fireworks show at Naranja Park July 4!

Fireworks graphic with July 4th Celebration at Naranja Park text

Oro Valley’s much-loved July 4th Celebration is moving to Naranja Park this year. Additionally, for the first time ever, the Town will host its own fireworks show, right there over the park! The FREE, family-friendly fun begins at 5 p.m., with live entertainment, activities for kids, food trucks and much more. Then at 9 p.m., festivities culminate with fireworks right over the park, so you’ll be able to feel the BOOM!

June 13, 2017

A new location means new parking logistics, so be sure to read the “Parking and overflow shuttle” information below. Naranja Park is located at 810 W. Naranja Drive, just east of La Cañada. Click here to view the event flyer.

Important note: Although the Oro Valley Aquatic Center will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on July 4, no other events or activities will take place at James D. Kriegh Park that day.

The Town is grading several acres of land to accommodate additional parking for this event, but please note that onsite parking will fill up. If parking is full when you arrive, don’t worry. Our friends down the street at Ironwood Ridge High School, (2475 W Naranja Dr., just west of La Cholla), have agreed to let us use the school for overflow parking, and school buses will offer FREE shuttle service to and from the park. Shuttle service begins at 5 p.m., and buses will run approximately every 10-15 minutes between the two locations. The last shuttle leaves Ironwood Ridge at 8:30 p.m., so give yourself plenty of time if you want to see the fireworks at 9 p.m. ADA-accessible parking will be located in the paved lot at Naranja Park. An ADA shuttle will also run from the overflow lot at Ironwood Ridge.

If you decide to park at Naranja Park, please enter from Naranja Drive and follow directions from parking attendants. After the event (after 9 p.m.) vehicles will be permitted to exit either south, to Naranja Drive, or north, to Tangerine Road. (Tangerine is an exit-only option for this event. Entry must be made from Naranja Drive.)

For your safety, and the safety of others, the following are not permitted at this event:

  • No pets
  • No alcohol
  • No smoking
  • No glass containers
  • No pop-up tents or shade canopies (umbrellas okay)
  • No personal fireworks; no sparklers

While this new location and the addition of fireworks is exciting for many people, we understand that some individuals and pets are sensitive to loud noises like fireworks. Residents who live in the neighborhoods surrounding Naranja Park should take necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of their pets. Also, if you live near the park, you can avoid the parking situation by walking over at your convenience!
