AZGOHS provides OVPD with FY-16/17 grant funding to combat DUI and speeding

December 28, 2016

The Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) through financial support by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (AZGOHS) has received $30,000 for FY16/17, in overtime funding to support DUI enforcement and participation with the Southern Arizona DUI Task Force. Additionally, AZGOHS has provided OVPD with $3,000 to purchase six new portable breathalyzers, which will be used during DUI and underage drinking investigations. AZGOHS has also awarded OVPD $17,000 to purchase four “moving” speed enforcement RADARS, to be mounted on four police motorcycles and two LIDAR’s devices for the purpose of traffic education and enforcement.

OVPD is committed to eliminating crimes involving the abuse of drugs and alcohol in our community, as well as preventing unnecessary injury and fatalities due to speed related collisions, reckless driving behavior and inattention. We would like to thank AZGOHS Director Alberto Gutier and his staff for their continued partnership and support toward this effort.
