April 2016 traffic deployment

During the month of April, the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) Traffic Unit will focus enforcement and education efforts on bicycle safety. The Town of Oro Valley is participating in an initiative with the United States Department of Transportation’s Mayor’s Challenge for Safer Streets and Safer People (https://www.transportation.gov/mayors-challenge).

Please be aware of the increased activity on:

• Tuesday, April 12, 2016: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
• Thursday, April 14, 2016: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 20, 2016: 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 26, 2016: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Thursday, April 28, 2016: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

OVPD motorcycle officers will concentrate their efforts in the areas of:

• La Cañada and Moore
• La Cañada and Tangerine
• First Ave and Tangerine

Officers will focus on both bicycle and vehicle moving violations, failure to give bicyclist three feet when passing and riding more than two abreast. Please contact Sgt. Troy Kranz, Traffic Supervisor, at tkranz@orovalleyaz.gov or 520-229-4954 with any questions.
