  • December 3, 2014 - Zoning interpretation for Cathey's Sew and Vac at 8700 N. Oracle Road (OV714-012)

    Notice is hereby given that the Planning and Zoning Administrator has issued a formal zoning interpretation relative to a proposed expansion of Cathey's Sew and Vac, located at 8700 N. Oracle Road.

    Per Zoning Code Section 21.6.G, appeals of Planning and Zoning Administrator interpretations may be taken to the Board of Adjustment by persons aggrieved by said interpretation within twenty (20) days from the date of the interpretation is published on the Town's website. The appeal shall be filed with the Town Clerk and the Board of Adjustment shall issue a decision within thirty (30) days following receipt of the appeal.

  • November 21, 2014 - Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of La Cholla and Naranja Northwest and Southwest Major General Plan Amendments (OV1114-002 and OV1114-003)

    The Planning and Zoning Commission held the second required public hearing on Thursday, November 20, 2014 and recommended (6-1 vote) approval of the La Cholla and Naranja Northwest and Southwest Major General Plan Amendments to the Town Council.     Town Council Hearing
    There is one additional opportunity ahead for your voice to be heard - at the upcoming Town Council hearing on December 10, 2014 at 5:00 PM in the Town Council Chambers, 11000 N. La Canada Drive. You are welcome and encouraged to join your neighbors at this upcoming hearing. The staff report and attachments will be available HERE (see the "Upcoming Meetings" section) approximately one week prior to the hearing.



Division Overview
The Planning division administers the General Plan and Zoning Code for the harmonious growth of the Town. The division is responsible for providing planning and zoning services to the Community, Town Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Conceptual Design Review Board, Board of Adjustment, and project teams.  The division's Work Plan for the next two years will focus on updates to the sign code, zoning code, general plan and associated guidelines and standards.

Planning Program Overview
The primary function of the Planning program is to assure the proper implementation of adopted plans, policies and standards. Planning provides direction and support for the Planning and Zoning Commission, Conceptual Design Review Board, and Board of Adjustment. The planning team coordinates the review of development projects by various Town departments and divisions as well as external review agencies. Planning also prepares and analyzes amendments to the General Plan, Zoning Code, Planned Area Developments, and rezoning cases. Staff develops recommendations to promote the aesthetic, organized growth and development of the Town, and is responsible for the Citizen's Planning Institute.
