The end of monsoon season signals the time to start planning for cooler drier climate.  The lush Sonoran desert hibernates and a monochromatic landscape palette returns. However, just because of the change of season, doesn't mean that your outdoor space can’t be a showcase for living and entertaining. With help from The Happy Saguaro, you can inject vibrant colors in your home and garden that can easily be enjoyed throughout the year.

Edgar Castillo, owner and curator of The Happy Saguaro brings over 30 years of experience of providing the highest quality regional pottery and décor for the distinguished Oro Valley home. Castillo travels regularly to Mexico, nearby states and Native American reservations and personally hand selects everything that is offered in his store. His travels take him along many of the same routes and communities that his father would take him along as a youth. Castillo’s father was the wholesale distributor for locally operated Rascon Landscaping and Nursery. Castillo is proud to carry on the family tradition today and continues to nurture his relationship with his long-term customers and artisans.

Until recently, The Happy Saguaro has kept a presence the past five years in a space at Old Tucson Studios. The gift shop has seen great success and is frequented by tourists as well as the occasional local shopper who would travel out of their way to purchase from The Happy Saguaro. Castillo was eagerly looking for the perfect location to serve his customers in the Northwest/Oro Valley region. It was providence that the space previously occupied by Rascon became available. The same building he would visit as a youth with his father’s business is now the home of his business. Castillo’s states,

“The shopping needs of customers at Old Tucson Studios are different from Oro Valley.  Tourist are in the market for small easy to carry keepsakes, while Oro Valley shoppers enjoy purchasing larger items that they can take home and immediately enjoy in their homes and gardens.   It is a treat to provide a service to residents who have extreme pride of their community and are extremely supportive of shopping in Oro Valley.”

This fall, keep your outdoor living space looking its best and express your inner Southwest with a beautiful selection of art courtesy of The Happy Saguaro.
