Project (CAP) water through the Tucson Water System. The delivery of renewable CAP water will reduce the use of groundwater which will help protect and preserve the aquifer. Oro Valley Town Council approved an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the City of Tucson for interim delivery of Oro Valley's CAP water on Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Oro Valley Water Utility will soon begin delivering CAP water to the residents and businesses within our water service area. The water delivered will be the same quality that Tucson Water currently delivers to nearby customers in the western part of Oro Valley including Ironwood Ridge High School and Wilson Elementary School. Oro Valley's CAP water will be recharged into the groundwater table west of Tucson and then pumped from wells and delivered through the Tucson Water system north to the Oro Valley water distribution system near Shannon and Naranja. Now, that the IGA is approved, it is anticipated that CAP water deliveries could begin in January of 2012.
The Oro Valley Water Utility will continue to keep you up to date with information regarding this project with inserts in your water bill. Please look for more information on the Water Utility's website at www.orovalleyaz.gov/Town_Government/WaterUtility.htm
